Service Description

This is for undergraduates who are looking to significantly improve their essay writing skills. Undergraduate philosophy essays are a unique genre of writing and can be challenging to get your head around, even for those that took philosophy at A Level. In these classes I offer highly personalized guidance on how to improve. I will spend 1-2 hours prior to our meeting closely reading an essay of yours, then I will provide feedback in a supervision-like format where we discuss how to improve the essay. This may involve various things such as: the structure of the essay, how to construct a 'steel man' objector, ensuring that your arguments and ideas are clear and forceful, and introducing and concluding in a way that shows you grasp what is significant in the debate (and so on).
